When I first penned this article for Queensland's community clubs, it was at the tail end of a lengthy project I had been working with KPMG on where we were uncovering, among many things, the opportunities and barriers to advocacy success for this sector.
Who would have thought that the community club sector had such an image problem?
Social license, or rather lack of, was a big issue - it seemed that nobody (including the government) was really buying into the argument that 'gaming is Ok for clubs to have because they give back to the community.'
I developed a road map for the peak body, Clubs Queensland, to work with clubs and the community to change that perception, working on a stacked program of activity that was driven by purpose and demonstrated all that community clubs do.
This article is still a good read today (if I say so myself)! Read here
Do you know what your social license really is? Do you know what it is? I can help you to find out and better still, improve your value.
